Shaoping Zeng

Artist Bio

Shaoping Zeng, born in 1961, is a distinguished artist and a passionate educator with over 45 years of experience in the world of art. A graduate of Changsha University of Science & Technology, where he studied at the College of Art and Design, Zeng is a proud member of the Hunan Artists Association. In 2014, he founded the Changsha HongJing Art School, dedicating himself to nurturing the next generation of artists.

Zeng is known for his exceptional skill in sketching and oil painting, with a particular focus on landscapes that capture the essence of nature’s beauty. His work has earned him a strong reputation, with numerous pieces held in private collections. Over the years, his art has been exhibited widely and received awards at national, provincial, and municipal levels across China. With a career spanning nearly half a century, Shaoping Zeng continues to inspire both students and art enthusiasts with his dedication to both his craft and his students.

Artist Statement

My work is deeply rooted in a reverence for nature and the world around us. I am drawn to the landscapes, still lifes, and architectural forms that speak to the beauty of the natural environment and the human presence within it. Whether capturing the quiet majesty of a mountain range, the intimate details of everyday objects, or the grandeur of built structures, I seek to express the harmony between nature and humanity through my brushstrokes.

Traveling with my family has always been a significant part of my creative process. As we explore new places, I find inspiration in the diverse terrains and cultures we encounter. Each journey becomes a new chapter, and with every memory, I translate the experiences and emotions into visual stories on canvas. These travels not only deepen my understanding of the world but also fuel my commitment to portraying the fleeting moments of beauty I observe—whether in a sprawling landscape or a quiet still life. Through my art, I aim to create a dialogue between the viewer and the world I experience, inviting them to see the familiar in new ways and appreciate the subtle, yet profound, details of our surroundings. My work is a reflection of my lifelong journey—one of exploration, connection, and discovery.
